Susquehanna Health Chooses Summit Provider Exchange for Bi-Directional Physician EMR Integration

Susquehanna Health, a health system that includes four affiliate hospitals in rural north-central Pennsylvania, has expanded its partnership with Summit Healthcare to streamline its bi-directional physician office integration efforts and will be implementing the Summit Provider Exchange technology solution in early 2013.

Susquehanna Health is a current customer of Summit Healthcare and leverages their business continuity technology to tackle system and network downtime. In evaluating their current vendor partnerships, turned again to Summit Healthcare as they also offers proven integration experience to tackle even the most complex workflows often associated with bi-directional physician integration.
 
Summit Provider Exchange will enable seamless inbound orders integration between Susquehanna Health and their 125 physicians while the hospital will continue to leverage their investment in their existing Siemens OPENlink interface engine for their outbound integration. The physician offices are currently live with NextGen EMR system.
 
Summit Provider Exchange leverages inherent features to ensure patient matching occurs on the front end, and if this fails, Summit Provider Exchange holds the order, providing an intuitive end-user application to match orders to the patient and correct any discrepancies. This enables all the benefits of streamlined integration, while avoiding the pitfalls of duplicate data sets and eliminating calls to the physician offices to resend or modify the original orders for the patient.
