Hitting Meaningful Use Stage 2 at Full Force

2013 was an exciting year for the healthcare industry! Many organizations have achieved Meaningful Use stage 1 and are now beginning to move toward meeting stage 2. While Meaningful Use stage 2 is even more robust that the previous stage, there are a few major aspects that can be easily addressed. 

As organizations increase integration and strive to implement more robust electronic data capture, ensuring your organization has a comprehensive, streamlined and secure business continuity plan to address downtime has never been more important. As we all dive into MU Stage 2, a shift in the evolution of data exchange can be seen throughout the industry with a variety of pathways for organizations to begin sharing SOC/CCD, more easily and cost effectively. This has never been more the case, than with the emergence of Direct Messaging protocols. However in order to comply, a Health Information Service Provider (HISP) needs to be in place. These are only two of the many hurdles the healthcare community faces when looking to meet Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirements. While requirements continue to evolve it’s important we all stay on track and ahead of the curve.
